After the bloody Mohács massacre our lands were decimated by Turkish attacks. Fast and organised Turkish troops had a great advantage over the imperial army. The year 1562 was not an exception. At the battle near Sečany Turkish soldiers attacked the cavalry of Ján Balassa, a captain from Zvolen. His reconnaissance was badly organised, so the attack came as a surprise and after a short clash the cavalry fled. Defeated soldiers, who saved themselves from Turks, faced different perils on their way back to Zvolen.
And our story is about those perils!
